According to a Wall Street Journal report released Thursday, Hyder Ahmad has resigned from his post with Goldman Sachs Group to launch his own Asian hedge fund.

Ahmad, who until recently was Goldman Sachs Group’s co-head of securities for Asia, seeks to raise $1 billion from Asia-based investors for the fund.

Reports say the fund is expected to go live by the end of 2006.
