Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley have agreed to give up their investment bank status and become regulated by the US Federal Reserve, Reuters reports.

The two giants were the last investment banks left on Wall Street, after their rivals failed or merged with larger banks during the on-going credit crisis.

Tighter regulation by the Federal Reserve will give both companies more access to capital, but it also means they can no longer take the risks they did in the past.
