The total assets of the world’s 300 largest pension funds now top $12 trillion, according to a new report released by Watson Wyatt in conjunction with Pensions and Investments.

Pension funds have grown at a rate of 14% in the past year, and have doubled since 2003, according to the report. The U.S. still has the plurality of funds at 43%, down from 54% in 2002.
