Growthwire, a global newswire service for venture capital and private equity fund managers, has been launched. Growthwire delivers capital raising propositions from companies seeking, mostly, up to 10m in their relevant currency, across all markets and across the world direct to the screens of investors, according to their pre-set preferences. Current listings, posted exclusively by professional advisors to capital raising growth companies, range from start-up thru mezzanine to pre-IPO and include propositions from Australia, China, UK/Eastern & Western Europe and the USA.

In the first full month of operation many contacts have been made between investors and corpfin/capital raising advisors. Cross-border examples include a USA fund manager contacting a Netherlands advisor raising 250k for an internet services client and a German wealth manager contacting a UK advisor raising 2.5m for a technology client. Current deal values range between Au$250k to 40m with listings posted from across the world.

“Talk of a so-called ‘equity gap,’ whereby entrepreneurs find it almost impossible to source equity capital to start or grow their companies is, in reality an ‘information gap’ that has permanently afflicted half of all developed economies and inhibited equity funded growth for early-stage companies. Growthwire has been developed to bridge this gap by aggregating and managing a volume of information that is simply too huge for mainstream media to accommodate,” says David Rose, CEO, Uk-based Growthwire.

“At any one time, worldwide, there are up to a million growth companies seeking equity funding through, we estimate, some 50,000 corporate finance and capital-raising advisors. Now that this information can be aggregated, filtered and delivered by investors’ own pre-set preferences there is an equally huge audience waiting for the service that Growthwire is offering particularly among the community of an estimated ten million wealthy, self-made entrepreneurs seeking out further wealth-creating opportunities into which they can roll over their capital gains. Development of the newswire was built around simplicity of use, quality assurance and the ability for wealthy, serial entrepreneurs (business angels) to keep their anonymity,” adds Rose.

Growthwire has been developed by the Growth Markets Organisation (GMO), a consortium of small-cap stock exchanges from around the world who wanted to build an information channel through which to distribute news of small-cap IPO filings direct to growth company investors.

“We started from the principle that ‘information drives liquidity’ for our member exchanges. We also believe that opening up our newswire to the off-exchange investment stratum to facilitate private equity investment from start-up, through early-stage, mezzanine and pre-IPO stages will deliver more fully resourced growth companies as IPO prospects for GMO’s member exchanges, which we will also be promoting as the natural exit route for private equity investors, thereby squaring the circle for those at all stages of growth company investment from private equity to quoted IPO,” says Richard Symon, who will be leaving his role as CEO of the National Stock Exchange of Australia (NSXA) to become full time Chairman of GMO at the end of June.
