Global Custodian will premiere a documentary on the asset servicing industry to its audience on 24 September in a unique and insightful event which represents an industry first. You can register for the event by clicking here.

The short film will explore the most prominent themes in asset servicing, as told by the winners of our coveted Leaders in Custody awards and will be free to view for the publication’s readers around the world.

With Global Custodian’s prestigious annual ceremony unable to go ahead in its traditional format due to the pandemic, the publication decided after much consideration and consultation that a story of custody in 2020 would be a perfect replacement.

The format both honours the winners of our awards through giving them a voice to tell the story, while uniting and engaging the securities services industry through an open forum discussion during the premiere, where questions can be submitted to a live panel which will extend the discussion after the film ends.

The film will also have guest appearances from asset management clients and network managers.

“We were determined to replace our annual awards ceremony with something special and this certainly fits that brief,” said Jonathan Watkins, managing editor of Global Custodian. “Combining our survey findings from recent years and the top performers from that research, we are able to tell a fascinating and insightful story on asset servicing, innovation and what it really means to be a good custodian. The live panel at the end of the documentary will also provide the perfect opportunity for our audience to ask industry experts about parts of the presentation or topics that perhaps weren’t covered.”

The story will focus on trends in the industry shown through Global Custodian’s annual survey results, along with discussing innovation, the key to meeting customer demands and high client service levels, and how the asset servicing model has evolved.

Due to the geographical scope of our winners, the interviews will focus on a range of countries and regions and will be premiered at two different times on the 24 September (12pm BST and 5pm BST) in order to ensure the feature reaches a range of market participants.

The winners of our annual awards – selected back in March 2020 – will be revealed throughout the presentation.
