Global Custodian reveals winners of Industry Leaders awards 2024  

Global Custodian is delighted to announce the winners of its annual Industry Leaders awards, held at Chelsea Piers in New York yesterday evening. 

Ultimus Fund Solutions, State Street and Citi each took home three honours on the evening, while JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Clear Street, BNY, Trident Trust, CSC and BNP Paribas were among the organisations to pick up two awards.     

The event celebrated the outstanding securities services providers, including those which have excelled in Global Custodian’s Agent Bank surveys, alongside our Editors’ Choice, Innovation, and Individual honours.   

In our Editors’ Choice segment, the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC) took home the coveted Industry Leadership award for its efforts around the T+1 migration, while UMB Fund Services scooped an honour for Innovation in Alternative Fund Data.  There was also recognition for Innovation for three other firms: EquiLend, Lukka and Ripple. 

Best New Fund Services Project was picked up by Apex Group for its Blockchain for Transfer Agency Services initiative.  

The Fund Services Deal of the Year accolade went to BNY for its ETF partnership with BlackRock, while BNP Paribas was crowned Fund Services Acquisition of the Year for its takeover of HSBC’s fund administration unit. Alchelyst picked up the award for Fund Services One to Watch.  

Citi and Temenos Multifonds were handed the award for Fund Services Partnership of the Year, while Fenergo was awarded with Fund Services Technology Provider of the Year. State Street’s Fund Connect also took home the crystal for ETF Initiative of the Year.  State Street chair and CEO Ronald O’Hanley was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrating his remarkable career spanning decades of leadership in asset management, financial services, and corporate strategy. His contributions have shaped the industry, cementing his legacy as influential figures in global finance. 

Ultimus Fund Solutions took home Best in Survey for its exceptional achievements across ETF Administration categories, demonstrating excellence in multiple key areas. Morgan Stanley was named Prime Broker of the Year for its standout performance, also securing an accolade for Capital Introductions. 

In a year when Global Custodian received a record number of responses across Private Equity Fund Administration, Hedge Fund Administration, and Agent Banks surveys, honours were awarded to firms that excelled in their respective domains. 

Ultimus Fund Solutions, JP Morgan, Citi, Morgan Stanley, Trident Trust, BNY, RBC Investor Services, Artex Fund Services, SS&C, CSC and BNP Paribas – were acknowledged for their consistent excellence and leadership throughout the year’s ETF Administration, Prime Brokerage, Private Equity Fund Administration, Hedge Fund Administration, and Agent Banks surveys. 

Opus were the standout provider from the Hedge Fund Administration segment – picking up Provider of the Year – while the same honour for Private Equity Fund Administration went to Ultimus Leverpoint. 

Citi’s Mike Hughes and Ultimus’ Gary Tenkman were inducted into the GC Hall of Fame, while State Street chairman and CEO Ronald O’Hanley was honoured with the coveted Lifetime Achievement award.
