Two former senior executives at global custodians have set up a consultancy business in Singapore, focusing on the securities service and transaction banking sectors in Asia.

Roger Harrold, formerly managing director, APAC Global Investor Services Product Executive at J.P. Morgan, and Giles Elliott, formerly global product head, Securities Services, Standard Chartered Bank, started AlfaSec Advisors to provide securities services advisory in areas including M&A, strategy reviews, product expansion, network expansion and business development.

Based in Singapore, the company will focus primarily on clients resident and operating in Asia or investing into Asia.

Roger Harrold joined J.P. Morgan in November 2011 and left earlier this year. Before that, he spent over 11 years as managing director, global head of Domestic Securities and Investor Services at Deutsche Bank and previously was director and APAC head of the bank’s Business Management and Product Planning Team in Global Institutional Services.

Giles Elliott, formerly global product head, Securities Services, at Standard Chartered, left the bank in September last year. Elliott has worked in securities services for almost 11-and-a-half years and began in his current role in August 2007 covering funds services, custody services and broker clearing services.
Before that, Elliot worked as head of Product Development and Support, Securities Services, HSBC from 2003-2007. Elliott also worked as head of Network Management, Asia at J.P. Morgan Chase, covering decisions on sub-custodian selection across Asian markets for the global custody business.
