HelioGraph, the Straight Through Processing and financial messaging specialist, announced today that Fox-Pitt, Kelton Limited (FPK), a leading investment bank specialising in the financial services industry, has gone live with an ISO 15022 messaging solution created in-house using HelioGraph tools.

FPK started sending European securities ISO 15022 messages in January this year, within weeks of the HelioGraph solution being implemented. The installation was achieved with minimal consultancy and support from HelioGraph.

Sumati Kumar, Director of Operations at FPK, said that using HelioGraph solutions has allowed the company to minimize the time spent on technology issues. “We have been able to concentrate on our core business and not waste our time trying to become SWIFT specialists” she said.

FPK automated the receipt and sending of settlement messages, previously processed manually, using HelioGraph’s powerful Integrated Development Environment (IDE), along with HelioGraph’s Message Broker, SWIFT library, and Message Workstations for exception-handling and trade monitoring. FPK is now sending ISO 15022 settlement messages to and from its legacy systems, well in advance of SWIFT’s deadline.

Message Workstation has helped reduce FPK’s trading risks by giving the broker a single point from which it can monitor all the messages in settlement process, said Kumar. “The operational risk is often in the gaps between systems. If you have one place where you can monitor everything, then there is less systemic risk.”

Using HelioGraph’s IDE, which includes an intuitive and powerful configuration tool, allows non-technical staff to configure complex mappings, workflows, and rules. FPK configured and implemented the solution itself, needing HelioGraph’s help only for basic training and a few days of consultancy. “We’ve gone from zero to sixty very quickly” comments Kumar.

FPK is already extending its use of HelioGraph technology, and plans to implement an order management solution using the IDE.

FPK chose HelioGraph after reviewing the market and deciding that HelioGraph offered the most flexible and effective solution for the complex new ISO15022 message standard. An important factor was that IDE allowed FPK to do the great majority of configuration by itself, giving it flexibility without high development costs.
