Banca di Roma, CDC Ixis, Crdit Agricole Indosuez and Unicredito Banca Mobiliare have joined as shareholders in CoredealMTS, Europe’s electronic exchange for international credit trading, following ISMA’s auction of a part of its stake in the exchange.

ISMA offered CoredealMTS shares in the first of a series of auctions, which will eventually lead to ISMA holding no more than the new statutory limit of 15 per cent of CoredealMTS’s share capital, by 1 January 2005, in line with EuroMTS’s stake. This will ensure a more widespread ownership of the company.

John Langton, CEO and Secretary General of ISMA said: “We are extremely pleased with the result of this auction, as it demonstrates the confidence of the European financial community in our company. The acquisition of four new shareholders means more transparent governance of CoredealMTS, which will in turn ensure our timely and effective response to the needs of the market”.

Angelo Proni, CEO of CoredealMTS added: “We welcome the new shareholders, as they represent the continued internationalisation of CoredealMTS, in terms of both ownership and user base. The exchange has continued to progress rapidly and the outcome of this auction only confirms the positive trend”.
