Maples and Calder, the offshore law firm, is expanding its Jersey office with the appointment of Vernon Breese, formerly the Senior Manager of the Securities Division of the Jersey Financial Services Commission, as OLE_LINK1regulatory consultant. Vernon spearheaded the recent sweeping changes of the Jersey regulatory regimes for investment funds and structured finance vehicles.

“We have been very pleased with how well our Jersey office has been received,” says Maples and Calder senior partner Anthony Travers. “It has exceeded our expectation and we are delighted now to bring in someone of Vernon’s standing to advise on Jersey regulatory aspects.”

Natalie Sullivan, resident partner, added that Breese’s involvement with local regulatory changes, particularly the implementation of the expert funds regime for sophisticated investors, has been instrumental in reviving Jersey as an offshore financial centre.

“Vernon’s international experience and standing are well matched to our multi-jurisdictional practice and we are delighted to welcome him to the team,” she says.

The Jersey firm advises on Jersey law governed financial products and specializes in hedge funds, private equity funds, capital markets, structured debt, securitisation, asset and corporate finance and company commercial law.

Maples Finance Jersey Limited, a Jersey based fiduciary and administration company, provides expert independent advice, management and administration for structured finance vehicles and investment funds.
