Industry legend Philippe Metoudi has joined new securities services consultancy AlfaSec Advisors as managing director and equity shareholder effective September 16.
The appointment of Metoudi comes as AlfaSec seeks to boost its client coverage. AlfaSec focuses on Asia and was started by custody industry veterans Giles Elliot and Roger Harrold in July. Metoudi will be based in Hong Kong, where he has resided since 1989, running AlfaSec’s newly opened Hong Kong Office.
Metoudi was formerly a member of the Executive Board of Clearstream Banking until mid-2012. He served as chairman of the Market Committee and was responsible for customer relationships in Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa. During his tenure with Clearstream, Metoudi collaborated with Asian central banks and regulators to improve the efficiency of regional clearing systems. In 1993, he was a member of a planning group, sponsored by the Asian Development Bank, to develop guidelines for clearing and settlement in Asia.
Metoudi’s appointment follows that of Dilip Kumar as head of registry and transfer agency at AlfaSec earlier this month.
Metoudi said: “I am honored and delighted to join AlfaSec in partnership with Roger Harrold and Giles Elliott. We have known and worked with each other for many years, and I look forward to extending our collaboration as part of AlfaSec’s dedicated management team bringing innovative products, services and personalized experience to the financial industry.”
Harrold and Elliott in a joint statement said, “We are delighted to welcome Philippe to AlfaSec. We look forward to working with Philippe to extend our practical, proven knowledge base to clients seeking greater depth and exposure to Asian markets. We are also excited to add Hong Kong to our office network; this will help us cover the very vibrant north-east Asia region.”
