Investment technology provider Clearwater has added an experienced fund services executive to its ranks, snapping up the industry veteran from Citi.

Mark Gillespie joins Clearwater as director of operations for Europe, based in Edinburgh.

He will oversee the daily operations for Clearwater’s Europe-based development, client servicing, product, and other personnel.

Gillespie joined Citi as head of transformation and change for Edinburgh in 2012, before being appointed head of operations in 2013.

During the past few years his responsibilities also increased to include EMEA regional head of change and financial reporting and tax, and global head of transfer agency.

Prior to Citi, Gillespie was a managing director of Investec Asset Management and an executive director at JP Morgan, for fund accounting operations.

Clearwater is an SaaS solution provider for investment portfolio data management, reconciliation, accounting, and reporting services.

“I am excited to join Clearwater as we find new ways to provide clients with a top-level solution, which includes excellent servicing,” said Gillespie. “I chose Clearwater for the personal approach they take to working with their clients. With the momentum achieved in the past couple of years, Clearwater has much potential in the European market and I look forward to being a part of that growth.”

In 2018, Clearwater added more than $540 billion in new assets to the platform from Europe alone. Clearwater presently serves more than 60 insurance, investment management, and corporate treasury clients across 13 countries in Europe.
