“Jim’s deep knowledge of all major facets of the hedge fund investment process – including manager monitoring, portfolio construction, performance measurement and risk management – make him a perfect candidate to lead our European research efforts,” adds Nicoll. “In addition, his experience in such increasingly important areas as structured solution alternatives we expect will be a tremendous benefit for us in the European market.”

Tremont’s business outside of the United States has broadened to include major institutional investors in Europe and Asia. “As our business opportunities grow, it is critical that we continue to work closely with our clients since we intend to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness,” says Allan. “Jim’s experience and perspective working with clients make him a very valued member of the firm.”

Tremont’s research capabilities combine qualitative manager selection with a suite of quantitative tools. Prior to joining Tremont, Mitchell was Vice President of investments at Hennessee Group, where he had responsibilities in asset allocation, manager selection and in relationship management for high-net-worth and institutional clients. Earlier in his career, he was a Vice President with Citibank Alternative Investments. At Citibank, Mitchell worked in product development, including structured products, and also was involved with portfolio risk management.
