HSBC Merchant Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Global Payments Inc, has won the prestigious Best Security or Anti-Fraud Development Award at the 2011 Card & Payments Awards.
The awards, held at The Grosvenor House Hotel, brought together prominent executives to recognise customer service, excellence and innovation among its members in the card payments industry across the UK and Ireland.
HSBC Merchant Services won the award for its launch of Commideas Ocius Sentinel solution in the UK. This innovative new solution supports a major advance in security and a step-change in the ease of PCI DSS compliance for merchants who take in-store transactions. It has also become the first end-to-end encryption card payment solution to achieve Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS) certification.
Ocius Sentinel uses dual-layered encryption of card data, which provides an extremely high level of protection on all card data. This dramatically reduces the work that merchants need to do to become PCI compliant.
Chris Davies, Managing Director of HSBC Merchant Services said: We are thrilled to accept this award for the third time in the past four years. We believe that the issues of security and fraud are of the utmost importance in the cards and payments industry and HSBC Merchant Services always strives to offer the best products and services on the market to help our merchants.
Ian Rutland, Director of Marketing and Communications at Commidea said: We are delighted to have been able to work with HSBC Merchant Services to get people talking about, and using, Ocius Sentinel.
Many merchants are seeing the benefits of using our unique solution, and it is fantastic that it has received such great recognition in the industry.
HSBC Merchant Services fought off competition from Bank of America, Lloyds banking group, Moneybookers and Nationwide to win the title.
