Firmat Appoints New Derivatives Compliance Director

Fimat USA, LLC, announced that Yvonne J. Downs has been named director of derivatives compliance, effective immediately.

Downs will oversee Fimat USA’s compliance activities in over-the-counter and exchange derivatives markets and serve as the firm’s chief anti-money laundering officer. She is based in the Fimat Chicago office and reports directly to Gary DeWaal, senior executive vice president and director of the Fimat Group’s global legal and compliance team.

“Yvonne is highly respected throughout the industry for her expertise and effectiveness,” said Mr. DeWaal. “Her addition to the worldwide Compliance Team is a further testament to the Fimat Group’s commitment to maintaining an exemplary compliance culture for the benefit of our customers and counterparties as well as our ultimate shareholder, Societe Generale.”

Downs replaced Frank Perry, who has been named director of special projects for Fimat Group Compliance.

Before joining Fimat, Downs served as senior vice president of for the National Futures Association for five years. Prior to that she worked for more than 20 years at the Chicago Board of Trade in various posts, including senior vice president and head of the Office of Investigations and audits and senior vice president of order routing.
