Fidelity Investments has appointed Martin Harris as Managing Director, UK Defined Benefits, reporting to David Stewart, President of the European Institutional Business. He is expected to take up the appointment in November.

“As we seek to grow our UK DB business we need to be attuned to the wide ranging needs of institutional investors so that we continue to provide our existing and prospective clients with equity and fixed income products that have a competitive edge,” says Stewart. “Martin has a great deal of experience within the institutional market place and he will use this to great effect to guide Fidelity’s UK DB business through the next phase of its development.”

Martin Harris started his career in the investment industry in 1983 as an equity analyst. Since 1990 he has concentrated on business development and marketing to institutional investors within the UK, Continental Europe and Australia. Between 1997 and 1999 he was at Gartmore Investments and most recently he was Head of UK Institutional Business at First State Investments.
