Fidelity Investments, the world’s largest investment management organisation has appointed Asgeir Thordarson as Director, Head of the Nordic Institutional Business reporting to Peter Lord, Managing Director of Fidelity’s EMEA Institutional business.

Asgeir joins Fidelity Investments from McKinsey & Company in Copenhagen where he was an Associate Partner serving financial services clients across the Nordic region and Europe.

Prior to this, Asgeir was the founder and CEO of FirstPrivate, a wealth management company and a Senior Vice President at Islandsbanki.

Peter Lord commented, “The Nordic region is a key strategic area in the development of our Institutional business in Europe. Our commitment to the region and our plans to continue building an institutional presence are underlined by Asgeir’s appointment. The assets under management for existing Nordic clients have grown significantly in the last three years and currently exceed $5.0 billion. I am sure that with Asgeir leading the team it will allow us to take advantage of the tremendous opportunities we are currently seeing and will increase our client base even further over the next few years.”

Fidelity’s Nordic business, headed by Mike Nikou, Executive Director, Nordic Region, was established in Stockholm in 1996 and supports Fidelity’s local mutual fund and institutional businesses in Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Iceland.
