Farlex, Inc., who runs the online database, TheFreeDictionary.com, announced Monday the launch of a new stock market tracking tool.

QuoteMedia, a provider of market data services and financial applications, will provide the market data capabilities. They also signed a deal with NASDAQ to deliver up-to-date financial information to TheFreeDictionary.com users, the company said in a news release.

The financial application will allow users to gather information about individual stocks and mutual funds, monitor portfolios, and track market trends.

Like other customizable features on the Web site, these tools are contained in a moveable, collapsible box with a variety of preference options. The tools offer a stock symbol lookup, and are capable of charting the performance of different indices, including foreign markets.

“Financial information has been the most frequently requested feature since we launched the new homepage,” said Nick Simonov, co-founder and president of Farlex. “We received a lot of positive feedback about our customizable weather feature, and users were actively requesting something similar for navigating the financial realm.”
