Reference data suppliers FAME Information Services, Inc. is expanding the platforms it supports to include Linux.
“The Linux operating system has become increasingly popular in the past several years and more and more major vendors are announcing its support,” says FAME’s CEO, Dale Richards. “FAME sees Linux as a reliable enterprise solution, with an attractive value proposition of driving down costs for our clients. Our customers have told us that they consider Linux ready for mission-critical applications such as FAME. Linux will enable them to save money on operating system licenses and deploy less expensive hardware.” In addition to Linux, FAME’s core database product and accompanying client tools support Sun Solaris, Windows, HP-UX and AIX.
FAME argues that Linux has earned considerable respect since its inception and has the backing of computing leaders to include IBM, Hewlett-Packard and Intel as well as major enterprise business applications providers such as SAP and PeopleSoft. Industry analyst firm, Meta Group, predicted in their December 2002 study that by 2006 or 2007, Linux will run on 45 percent of new servers.
FAME’s support for Linux is available now. For additional information, please contact FAME’s sales department at (212) 506-0362.
