Euroclear’s Olivier Grimonpont is to relocate to London from Hong Kong in which he will take up the vacant role left by Saheed Awan, Global Custodian can reveal.

The appointment concludes six months of searching, following Awan’s resignation as global head of Euroclear’s collateral services and securities financing products in November last year. Awan was central to the creation of the group’s global ‘Collateral Highway’ project.

Grimonpont has served over five years at Euroclear Bank’s Hong Kong branch, where he has served as CEO & Regional Head for the Asia-Pacific region.

During his time in Asia, Grimonpont oversaw the onboarding of some of Asia’s biggest banks onto the Euroclear Collateral Highway, such as Standard Chartered Bank, Citi and BNP Paribas.

His career at Euroclear originated in the collateral space, in which he joined as head of Product Management, Fixed Income Securities, Collateral Services and Securities Lending in 1999.

He will take up his new role over the Summer, Global Custodian understands. Ivan Nicora, who is currently head of Euroclear Fundsettle service and GlobalReach service for non-European markets, will transition into Grimonpont’s role in the Summer, subject to the approval the the Belgian National Bank and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.
