Investment bank Perella Weinberg Partners has hired ex-SEC Chairman William H. Donaldson as Chairman of its Advisory Council. He will work closely with the Firm’s partners on strategic issues and organisational and client related matters. Donaldson is also Chairman of Donaldson Enterprises, a private investment firm.

Donaldson most recently served as the 27th Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, his tenure marking the greatest period of activity of the Agency since its founding in 1934. Prior to heading the SEC, he was Chairman and President of Aetna, Inc., one of the nations largest providers of health insurance, Chairman and CEO of the New York Stock Exchange and Chairman and CEO of the investment banking firm, Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ).

“We are delighted to have someone with Bill’s extraordinary reputation, stature and wealth of experience as part of our Firm,” says Joseph Perella, the Chairman of Perella Weinberg Partners. “His role as a leader in the financial services industry, including the co-founding of DLJ, and his experience in leadership roles in government and education, will be extremely valuable to us as we continue to grow the business of Perella Weinberg Partners”.

“I look forward with great enthusiasm to the opportunity to be part of a new financial services firm at a stage similar to the early days at DLJ,” adds Donaldson. “I hope to be able to contribute to the development and growth of this exciting new organisation.”
