Bank of America Merrill Lynch has hired Deepak Abraham as head of Asia Pacific Capital Strategy, effective June 1. He will be based in Hong Kong and report to Graham Seaton, head of Asia Pacific Prime Brokerage.

Deepak will relocate from Dubai, where he was most recently head of Middle East and North Africa Prime Brokerage at Morgan Stanley. Before that, he spent six years at Goldman Sachs in London working with institutional and private wealth clients in a hedge fund strategies role.

An internal memo from Richard Boseley, head of Asia Pacific Equities Sales and Global Markets Financing & Futures at BofA and Seeton said Abraham will strategically advise on asset raising issues.

“Deepak’s experience with sovereign wealth funds, royal families and other institutional investors will prove invaluable in deepening our relationships with the key Asian allocators to our hedge fund clients globally,” said the memo. “He will work with the EMEA Capital Strategy team and continue to cover his existing relationships in the Middle East and North Africa, broadening the coverage of our Global Capital Strategy team.”
