Europe’s central securities depositories (CSDs) collectively processed around 470 million transactions throughout 2014, worth around €1.2 quadrillion according to data compiled by the ECSDA.
On average, each CSD settled transactions worth nearly €30 trillion.
The total number of securities settled compared with 2013 increased by 10.8%, or up by 46 million, which then increased the value by 6.2%, or €60 trillion.
The total value of securities held on accounts maintained at European CSDs as of 31 December 2014 was €51 trillion, an increase of over 7% compared to 2013.
