Euroclear Bank has chosen Infonet, a communications company, as the provider of its managed global private IP network for clients.

Under the terms of the three-year contract, Infonet will implement a secure private IP network with encryption and security services for use by Euroclear Bank’s customers.

In addition, Infonet’s MobileXpress mobility services will be extending secure remote access to the customer network via dial-up “points of presence” in 120 countries.

“For the past four years, Infonet has been providing us with a private network to connect our representative offices in New York, Sao Paulo, Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo to our headquarters in Brussels,” says Michael Pilkington, managing director and head of Corporate Technology at Euroclear Bank. “Through this longstanding relationship we have come to know the quality of service that Infonet provides on a global scale. We consider Infonet one of the industry leaders in providing secure private IP networks and are pleased to offer the choice of using Infonet to our clients.”

“The proposed Euroclear Bank network solution is a native and future-proof IP MPLS network enforced by strong security mechanisms, for PSTN, ISDN and permanently connected Euroclear Bank customers,” adds Michel Vervoort, general manager, Infonet Belgium. “We’re delighted to be able to expand our relationship with Euroclear Bank, and to build on our strong track record of managing network access for largely distributed populations of users across the world.”
