Eurex and the Bombay Stock Exchange are to launch futures and options on SENSEX, the blue-chip exchange of the BSE.
BSE is owned by a number of shareholders, including Deutsche Brse, which jointly owns Eurex along with SIX Swiss Exchange.
The new contracts will be denominated in US dollars and settled in cash, and will be launched in early October 2010.
Deutsche Brse is also in talks with the BSE to bring the SENSEX index to the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, according to local media reports. A senior BSE official said: Sensex futures and options will start trading on the Deutsche Brse. The process of discussion is on and we expect trading to start by the end of 2010, according to The Economic Times.
