Charlie McCreevy, European Union internal markets commissioner, said Monday that it should be left to the market to decide whether Euronext should merge with NYSE Group or Deutsche Borse AG, and not to politicians.
“The Commission believes strongly that the market has to make the final decision on consolidation,” says McCreevy. “It is not up to bureaucrats to decide what is best for investors.”
