EquiLend has hired Rory Zirpolo for its business development team focusing on post-trade services in the Americas.

Zirpolo joins from US institutional broker WallachBeth Capital where he was a managing director for just seven months. Prior to this role he was chief operating officer for Cantor Fitzgerald’s securities lending business, and global head of equity finance at Cowen Group.

“His [Zirpolo’s] expertise in all aspects of the securities finance industry, and his knowledge of EquiLend’s services as both a user and a former board member, are great assets to the firm and will help us to continue extending operational efficiencies throughout the market,” said Brian Lamb, CEO, Equilend.

Equilend has stepped up investment into its post-trade services over the years. In 2016, the company set up EquiLend Clearing Services, following its acquisition of Automated Equity Finance Markets (AQS), enabling it to offer capital, balance sheet and workflow solutions for the securities finance industry.

EquiLend has also boosted its post-trade regulatory solutions, with the Securities Financing Transaction Regulation (SFTR) fast-approaching. In September last year, it partnered with Trax to combine their reporting and market data capabilities for a joint SFTR solution.
