Edward C. K. Chin has joined REFCO Alternative Investments, LLC (RAI) as General Manager, Head of Asia.

Chin, who will be based in Hong Kong, will oversee the distribution of alternative investment products both directly and through the continued development of strategic alliances with selected distribution partners in Asia.

Chin was with Man Investment Products, where he was Country Manager. Since relocating back to Asia, his focus has been joint venture negotiations with financial and government institutions in the distribution, allocation, structuring and private labeling of hedge funds/absolute return funds in Asia, the Middle East and North America. He has more than 15 years of experience in portfolio management, hedge funds, traditional funds, strategic planning, sales management, direct investment, business valuation, and investment management. He is a certified Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) and a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI). He was an Asian business strategist for TD Evergreen, the securities brokerage division of Toronto Dominion Bank, and was responsible for derivative and portfolio management accounts at BMO Nesbitt Burns, the investment banking division of Bank of Montreal. Chin earned a Bachelor of Applied Economics Degree from University of Manitoba and an MBA from the University of Toronto.

In addition, Refco Securities LLC (RSL) is the primary distributor for products linked to the S&P Managed Futures Index. RAI is the alternative asset management division of REFCO. RAI aims to expand Refco’s traditional trading and asset management capabilities into managed futures, hedge funds, and structured products to provide investors with a full range of investment choices.
