The Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association (CAIASM) has selected EDHEC, the French business school, as its ‘exclusive official provider’ of CAIASM exam preparatory courses for Europe.

A not-for-profit and independent organisation, the CAIA Association sponsors the CAIASM designation, the global professional certification that is quickly becoming the hallmark of excellence in the booming alternative investment industry.

The CAIASM charter aim to certify an individual’s mastery of the concepts, tools and practices essential for managing traditional and modern alternative vehicles such as real estate, private equity, commodities, hedge funds and managed futures.

Drawn from 35 countries, CAIASM candidates range in experience from new industry participants to experienced professionals and include investment advisors, consultants and analysts, fund managers and administrators, accountants and lawyers, as well as compliance and back office personnel.

EDHEC says the CAIASM programme has attracted over 1,000 candidates since it was set up in 2002, and the number of new registrations is doubling every six months. Over 300 financial institutions have candidates in the programme and a growing number of them are signing up key executives to take the exams that will enable them to add the prestigious CAIA letters after their name.

The CAIA Association says it picked EDHEC due to the school’s “excellent reputation” within the European alternative investment community. The school owes its privileged position to the industry sponsored programmes conducted by the EDHEC Risk and Asset Management Research Centre, growing interest in the EDHEC Alternative Indexes, and a team of professors who are regarded as international experts in traditional and alternative investment management.

EDHEC Alternative Investment Education, a specialised executive training arm set up by the school to cater for the needs of alternative investment professionals, provides CAIASM candidates with a range of study solutions to take the two levels of the challenging examinations with the best chance of success.

EDHEC Alternative Investment Education preparatory solutions for the February 2005 CAIASM examinations include intensive on-site review seminars in the United-Kingdom, Switzerland and France, as well as on-line training courses and test preparation software. The school also offers customised courses for institutional clients.
