The East Riding of Yorkshire Council has appointed Northern Trust to provide custody services for its 2 billion (approximately USD 4 billion) pension fund.

“We spoke to a number of local government schemes as part of the tender process,” says Paul Barnett of East Riding of Yorkshire Council. “We selected Northern Trust as they best met our overall requirements and demonstrated a particularly high regard for client service.”

Northern Trust’s team serves the particular requirements of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) sector, and currently provides custody services to approximately one third of all UK LGPS.

“This latest appointment further strengthens our position in the LGPS market,” adds Sally-Anne Callick of UK pension fund sales at Northern Trust. “We look forward to working with the East Riding of Yorkshire Council to ensure, through our solutions-delivered approach, we are able to meet their current and future requirements.”
