Syntegra announced today that Toronto-based Dundee Securities Corporation, a brokerage firm, had installed its voice trading capabilities in its new Toronto trading room. Trading at the new facility began in September 2002.

“Our decision to adopt Syntegra’s technology was based on the functionality it provides,” says Paul Stapleton, VP, information systems, chief technology officer, Dundee Securities Corporation. “Syntegra offered a good technology fit with far-reaching capabilities, enabling us to easily expand our trading floor in the future. This will help ensure that we are armed with cutting-edge trading tools essential for providing quality service to our customers.” Syntegra says it worked closely with its local distribution partner, Cygnal Technologies Corporation, to land the deal. Cygnal is responsible for new customer sales, installation and service in Canada.

“Our agreement with Dundee Securities further strengthens Syntegra’s presence in the Canadian market, and has served to reinforce our relationship with Cygnal,” says Jim Kern, general manager, vice president, trading systems at Syntegra, Americas. “We are pleased that Dundee Securities chose Syntegra based as much on our ability to fulfill the future needs of their traders as well as on our ability to deliver technology that complements their current infrastructure.”

The new Dundee Securities trading floor in Toronto has been equipped with the latest voice trading technology from Syntegra, including ITS Release 13 operating and administrative software, 30 IP-ready ITS pV405Hi turrets, ITS p47 telephony switching platform, ITSprofile management tools, as well as integration with existing voice recording from NICE and Nortel Meridian PABX. Syntegra says the new system brings fast, flexible and reliable voice communication to the trading room and helps simplify system management, configuration and administration.

Stapleton also credits Syntegra’s voice trading technology with enabling traders at Dundee Securities to benefit from several enhancements to the existing system, including: ease of transferring calls, improved conferencing facilities and integrated voicemail options – not possible using the legacy vBand technology.

“Including Syntegra’s voice trading products in our solution has afforded Dundee Securities a useful and affordable growth path for the future, while enabling them to continue to deploy their existing technology platform,” adds Joe Mueller, vice president, Turret Division, Data Network Solutions Group, Cygnal Technologies Corporation. “With this installation, Dundee Securities has made the kind of strategic investment in their telecommunications infrastructure that has put them significantly ahead of their competition in the financial services marketplace.”

Dundee Securities Corporation is a full service investment with over 250 staff servicing over $4 billion of client assets under administration.

Founded in 1998, Cygnal Technologies Corporation designs, integrates, installs and maintains wired and wireless broadband, data and telecommunications networks. Headquartered in Oshawa, Cygnal has 600 staff.
