According to a report in the Financial Times, the hedge fund industry in Dubai is seeing an “influx” of private and institutional money from the region and the city could become a new centre for the industry. It cites the Dubai International Financial Centre as a source.
At present, says the report, the DIFC hosts just three hedge funds, but DIFC governor Omar Bin Sulaiman says he intends to grow the city-state into a major hedge fund centre, based on light regulation.
