The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) revealed plans today to expand its Tampa, Florida, location with up to 255 new jobs as part of a $4.8 million investment in its Florida campus.

DTCC opened its first facility in New Tampa in 2004 as a redundant operations center, and it now serves as a fully integrated business center. The expansion will see improved technology, facilities and resources for secure client transactions, DTCC says.

The planned jobs will be in specialized sectors across IT, operations, human resources and finance, with a phased-hiring schedule to be administered over a projected three-year period. DTCC says the average salary of the new employees will be more than double the regional average of $46,000.

Michael Bodson, president and CEO of DTCC, says the City of Tampa, Hillsborough County and the State of Florida have been strategic partners of the firm since it opened its Florida office. Since then, the firm has established partnerships with MacDill AFB, the University of South Florida and other local educational institutions to recruit employees.

“This expansion aligns with DTCC’s workforce location and sourcing strategy and allows us to continue to provide our clients with exceptional service while meeting the needs for long-term sustainability,” says Eric Miller, managing director and head of DTCC Tampa. “Tampa is an excellent environment for businesses to grow and thrive, and it has proven to be the right choice for us.”

DTCC says it was wooed by other states where it has operations but it ultimately chose Tampa based on recruitment potential and quality of living for its employees.

Tampa is increasingly becoming an important hub for financial services firms, including in the securities services space. Citi Transaction Services, for instance, runs its Latin American operations from a regional processing center in the city.
