DST International (DSTi), the provider of mutual fund accounting applications, says it has developed a so-called “opinion management solution” that aims to translate the opinions of an investment manager into suggested ‘optimal’ trades, by combining input from the research department and/or the investment committee with the individual objectives and constraints of each portfolio. It is based on technology developed by a Luxembourg-based company called Sapiens Tech.

DSTi says the decision support tool will facilitate the “mass customisation” of private client portfolios. “We took the strategic decision to work with Sapiens Tech, because the technology gives DSTi a unique offering in an under-supplied segment of the asset management software market,” says Steve Edkins, DSTi’s COO. “Opinion-driven portfolio optimisation is part of DSTi’s long term vision for front office decision support. This functionality is not currently available in the market and will bring DSTi and our early adopter clients into a marketing leading position.”

Sapiens Tech, based in Luxembourg, is managed by Philippe Gonze, previously founder of CAF Corporation and Tradeware. He is the designer of their CAF.03 (portfolio management) and TradeView (trading room STP processing) applications.
