Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein (DrKW), the investment banking arm of Dresdner Bank, has hired a new Quantitative Trading team in London.

The team consists of Zafrul Bhuia, who joins as a Director and team leader; Daniel Clarke, who joins as a Senior Trader, also at Director level; and Jon Davidson, Taras Chaban and Steffen Seitz (Vice Presidents). All are external hires except Seitz who is transferring internally.

The team started work at the beginning of June, reporting to Areski Iberrakene, Global Head of Equity Derivatives Trading.

Bhuia’s career includes 6 years spent at CSFB where he ran programme trading and then specialised in quant. Clarke joins DrKW from Goldman Sachs, where he worked on the statistical arbitrage desk then in programme trading. Davidson was at risk management firm Advanced Portfolio Technologies for 5 years and Chaban’s background is in quant research including time at CSFB.

Areski Iberrakene says the new team will focus on statistical arbitrage strategies, trading via a new electronic platform. “Their know-how and expertise will significantly enhance both our client capabilities and other internal equity related trading activities,” he says.
