According to a report in the Nikkei newspaper, 97% of Japanese companies listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, and with March fiscal year-ends, are planning amendments to their articles of incorporation to take advantage of new company legislation. This is likely to lead to increases in the frequency of dividend payments from semi-annual to quarterly payments. According to the survey, 20% of respondents currently plan to put such a reform on the AGM agenda.
