An announcement is expected early this week confirming that State Street has acquired not only the US and UK Custody businesses of Deutsche bank and its offshore fund administration operations in Dublin and Edinburgh, but also domestic depotbank fund administration business in Germany.
The decision by the giant German bank to sell depotbank, if confirmed, is a significant measure of how difficult the sale has proved – but also a massive coup for State Street.
