Deutsche Brse and Clearstream said they obtained an interim injunction from the Dusseldorf court on March 24 against Norddeutscher Rundfunk, the WDR journalist Marcus Schmidt, and the co-author of a book aimed against Clearstream i.e. Ernest Backes.

The companies said statements in the television news program Tagesthemen broadcast on Feb 16 were both factually inaccurate and damaging. Those statements have been prohibited as a result of the injunction, the companies said.

Deutsche Brse said the decision of justice has made it clear that no investigations by the Luxembourg public prosecutor against Clearstream for systematic money laundering are carried out. Moreover, the company claimed that Deutsche Borse did not put cash into a Swiss branch office of Cedel and that Cedel has not kept the existence of the branch office secret.

Deutsche Borse said it has obtained “a further step against reputational damage of the company because of the publishing of inexact facts in several publications.”
