Standard & Poor’s has licensed Deutsche Bank to create and launch a family of products based upon the recently launched S&P U.S. Carbon Efficient Index.
The S&P U.S. Carbon Efficient Index, which is part of the Standard & Poor’s global thematic index series, measures the performance of large cap U.S. companies with relatively low carbon emissions, while seeking to closely track the return of the S&P 500.
The Index is composed of a subset of constituents in the S&P 500 with a relatively low Carbon Footprint while maintaining at least 50% of the original weight representation for every GICS(R) sector in the S&P 500. Through 2008, the average annual Carbon Footprint of the S&P U.S. Carbon Efficient Index was 48% lower than that of the S&P 500.
