Deutsche Bank has hired veteran investment banker Bruce Evans from Goldman Sachs to act as managing director in its mergers and acquisitions unit.

Evans had worked for Goldman for 18 years, most recently as a managing director in the consumer retail investment group, and his hire is regarded as something of a coup for the US bank.

During his time there he was involved in the some huge company sales, among them brands affiliated to Proctor & Gamble and vitamin retail giant GNC.

News of Evans’ hire comes amid a flurry of hires for the German bank, including Jane DeFlorio from UBS and Marco Habert from Citigroup, who both will be installed in the consumer investment banking unit as managing directors.
