State Street Corporation has appointed Executive Vice President David J. Gutschenritter to treasurer, effective 16 January 16.
Gutschenritter, 50 will be responsible for oversight of State Street’s balance sheet, investment portfolio, liquidity and interest rate risk management activities worldwide. In this capacity he will continue to report to Edward J. Resch, State Street’s chief financial officer.
“David is a seasoned industry veteran with more than two decades of global finance, risk and treasury experience. Having been an integral part of my team for the past four years, David has demonstrated considerable acumen and prudent oversight in the management of our balance sheet strategy. We are delighted therefore to promote him to this key role,” says Resch.
Gutschenritter joined State Street in May 2004 as the director of capital planning. Prior to being named executive vice president and department head, he was the managing director of global liability and capital management.
Before joining State Street, Gutschenritter spent 22 years at FleetBoston and one of its predecessor banks, BankBoston, as the director of capital planning and numerous other positions in treasury.
Gutschenritter received his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Notre Dame and his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan.
