Sun Microsystems has appointed David Hallett as its new UK Client Services Director.

Hallett joins Sun from Littlewoods Retail Group to lead this new division, which unites previously separate groups providing professional, project delivery and technical pre-sales services to Sun’s customers.

“David’s experience speaks for itself, his industry knowledge and insight will be of great value to us in strengthening our leadership in the UK,” says Leslie Stretch, Vice President & Managing Director of Sun UK and Ireland. “David will build on the tremendous momentum we’re seeing and drive our UK Client Services operations to deliver the right solutions in the right way and unleash the pent-up desire for innovation, value and choice we see in UK enterprises today”.

Prior to joining Sun, Hallett was Group IT Director at Littlewoods Retail Group, were, he was responsible for implementing an industry leading rationalisation of process, procedures and assets, which halved the IT budget in five years. He managed staff or 750 at its peak. Hallett also held the role of Operations Director of Littlewoods Home Shopping Business, was responsible for Group IT functions at Argos and was Group IT Director at Dixons Stores Ltd.

Hallett will report directly to Leslie Stretch, Vice President & Managing Director of Sun UK and Ireland. He will be based in the company’s UK Head Office in Camberley.
