Daiwa’s multi-asset Hong Kong Agency business has successfully joined Torstone Technology’s post-trade processing platform, Inferno.

This represents the latest phase of Daiwa’s collaboration with Torstone, a securities and derivatives processing software provider. Torstone’s Inferno now processes all of Daiwa Hong Kong’s confirmations, reconciliations and settlements for its fixed income and equity business. This is in addition to producing risk reports, and supplying platforms for the finance team’s journal postings and the legal & compliance team.

Inferno enables Daiwa Hong Kong to consolidate its business via one operating platform, therefore reducing operating costs. This project has also further enhanced the partnership between Torstone and the Daiwa Institute of Research (DIR).

Inferno’s automated, scalable system offers event-driven and service-oriented architecture, which is aimed at helping businesses to improve their straight through processing (STP) rate. “By adopting Inferno, Daiwa has improved STP performance, increased business capacity and agility, and [made] sizeable cost savings through business synergies,” says Terry Mackey, COO of Daiwa Hong Kong.
