CVC Capital Partners, a private equity firm, has recruited Kamil Salame as a partner and US head of the firm’s financial institutions group with immediate effect.

Salame joins CVC from DLJ Merchant Banking Partners where he served as a partner and member of the management committee and as a managing director of Credit Suisse. Salame was a member of DLJMB’s investment committee and, as such, was involved in all aspects of managing DLJMB’s portfolio, which is comprised of more than 40 companies and represents approximately $12bn of assets under management.

During his tenure at DLJMB, Salame led the group’s investment activities in financial services and media and completed approximately 30 private equity transactions in a broad range of industries including financial services, real estate, media, industrial, and consumer.

“Kamil is an important addition to our team at a time when investment opportunities in the financial sector have never been greater,” says Jonathan Feuer, a managing partner of CVC and global head of the firm’s financial institutions group. “Kamil’s depth of experience in financial services and private equity will be incredibly valuable to CVC and our financial institutions team.”

Barclays, the UK bank, recently confirmed that CVC is the preferred bidder for its exchange traded funds trading platform iShares.
