CVC Capital Partners has appointed BP veteran Ross Pillari to its US advisory board. Pillari will work with CVC’s US investment team to help develop investment opportunities in the energy sector and will help advise CVC’s portfolio companies and management.

Pillari has had a distinguished career in the energy industry, with senior responsibility for strategy, operations, and M&As. Most recently, he served as chairman & CEO of BP America Inc., a role he held from 2001 to 2006. He also remained an advisor to BP through December 2007. In addition to his role as the senior BP executive in the USA, he was also a group vice president of BP plc, and responsible for the western hemisphere region of the BP Group. In all, Pillari had a 35 year career at the company.

“We are delighted to welcome Ross to CVC,” says Chris Stadler, managing partner and head of CVC’s US office. “He has been a highly successful executive and brings a deep background in the energy industry. In the short time that he has been working with our investment team, he has been instrumental in developing our presence in the energy sector.”

“I am very pleased to be aligned with an organisation that has a longstanding record of success across economic cycles, a leading global presence, and an exceptional reputation for integrity,” says Pillari. “I believe the energy sector will present an attractive environment in the coming years and look forward to partnering with CVC to pursue opportunities in this industry.”

CVC’s activities in the North American energy sector are overseen by Cameron Breitner, director in CVC’s New York office.
