The CSFB/Tremont Hedge Fund Index is up 1.61% for December, pushing the year-end number up to 9.64% for 2004.
Event-Driven Multi Strategy Funds topped performance, up 2.62% in December, while Event-Driven Distressed Funds took top performance honors for the year 2004 — up 15.62%.
“Major US equity indices ended up the month is positive territory, with managers generating returns on the long side of their portfolios,” says Oliver Schupp, president, Credit Suisse First Boston Tremont Index LLC. “European and Asian equities were generally positive for the month as well, despite declining markets in China.”
The CSFB/Tremont Investable is up 0.99% net in December and up 5.24% for the year 2004.
The Investable Long/Short Equity Index topped the funds, up 3.33% net in December, while the Investable Emerging Markets Index outperformed all other strategies for the year 2004 — up 15.26%.
The CSFB/Tremont Sector Invest Indices show the Sector Invest Long/Short Equity Index up 2.51% in December, and the Sector Invest Managed Futures Index up 10.41% for the year 2004.
