The Governor of the Croatian National Bank, Mr. Zeljko Rohatinski, classified the recent exchange rate fluctuations as normal and seasonal.

Although his administration does not expect the exchange rate to exceed HRK 7,7 to the EURO, the National bank is prepared to defend accordingly.

The government reacted similarly. The Minister of Finance, Mr. Ivan Suker, confirmed that the stable exchange rate represents the government’s position. In Mr. Suker’s view, a couple of teething problems occurred following the initiation of the exchange rate policy, but any significant change could endanger the country’s financial stability and unnecessarily harm Croatia’s efforts towards an early EU membership.
