Credit Suisse has appointed Stephen Giubin as head of Asset Management Australia and Gailie McIntyre has been promoted to deputy head of Asset Management Australia. The appointments are effective from 1 July 2008.

“As a team Steve and Gailie are a very powerful combination. Together they have over 40 years hands-on industry experience that covers the entire spectrum of the Asset Management business. I am confident that under their leadership the Asset Management business in Australia will further strengthen its position with our clients and the investor community in Australia,” says Tony Iliya, executive vice chairman and head of Asset Management, Asia Pacific Credit Suisse.

Giubin and McIntyre succeed Keith Ince who has led the business since June 2006. Ince initially joined Credit Suisse on a six month basis and later extended for a further eighteen months. Over the last two years Ince has implemented a number of changes that have been highly regarded by clients and key stakeholders in the market – the appointment of Giubin and the new Australian equity investment team in June 2007 is just one of his many achievements.

“Thanks to Keith’s efforts over the last two years; the Asset Management business here in Australia is in a much stronger position today. Credit Suisse has an outstanding local and global investment and product platform that we will leverage to serve our clients and grow our business. We are here to make money for our clients by delivering investment excellence and market leading client service,” says Giubin.

“Given the success of the team based investment approach that Steve has implemented in Australian equities we will be applying the principles of that approach to running the business so that we are in a position to deliver significant benefits to our clients and staff. With Steve focused on working with the Investment Teams to deliver investment excellence, my principal focus will be on ensuring that we deliver market leading client service,” says McIntyre.

Giubin joined Credit Suisse in June 2007 as the head of Australian Equities. He has over 20 years investment management experience and joined Credit Suisse from Schroders Investment Management where he was a senior portfolio manager for the Australian Equities portfolio. Prior to that, he was responsible for portfolio management and equities research at Macquarie Investment Management and BT Funds Management.

McIntyre joined Credit Suisse in 1995 and has held senior operations and administration positions in both Investment Banking and Asset Management in Melbourne, Sydney, Hong Kong and Tokyo. She joined the Asset Management business in February 2006 as the COO. Prior to joining Credit Suisse she held a number of senior Financial Management and Administration roles with Treasury Corporation of Victoria, the Victorian Casino Control Authority and JP Morgan Australia Limited.

Based in Sydney, Giubin will report to Iliya and be a director of the Credit Suisse Asset Management (Australia) Limited board of directors. McIntyre, also based in Sydney, will continue to be a director of the Credit Suisse Asset Management (Australia) Limited board of directors and reports to Salman Shoaib, COO, Asia Pacific for Asset Management.
