Credit Suisse has been principal sponsor of the International Horse Races at St. Moritz for the past 18 years, and is now extending its partnership with the White Turf Racing Association by another three years until 2011.

The bank will thus continue to host the spectacular skijoring races, presenting the entrant who collects the most points on all three Sundays with the Skijoring Trophy, an award created in 1990 by Credit Suisse.

Horseracing has been taking place on the frozen lake at St. Moritz for over a 100 years now. For the past 18 years, Credit Suisse has been principal sponsor of White Turf, where it hosts the exclusive skijoring race – the only event of its kind in the world. Skijoring is a discipline in which men on skis are pulled along a track of snow and ice by unsaddled thoroughbreds at speeds of up to 50 – 55km/h.

“The international horse races at St. Moritz provide Credit Suisse with the ideal framework to offer our guests and clients an unforgettable and incomparable experience, and to extend awareness of the Credit Suisse brand beyond Switzerland. As a truly astonishing part of this spectacle, the skijoring races have secured a special place in our hearts,” says Sandra Caviezel, head of Sports Sponsorship, Credit Suisse.
