Deutsche Brse has published its first Corporate Responsibility Report, presenting its initiatives for the concluded financial year 2008. Corporate Responsibility has been bundled and significantly expanded across the group, particularly in the last two years. In the current report, the company details its commitment to CR and provides an overview of each area and its objectives.
Deutsche Brse Group believes the capital market and its institutions have a social responsibility to the community. To this end, the company always focuses on improving future opportunities for young people and supporting particularly innovative ideas and concepts. The long-term commitment is mainly focused on four areas: community, environment, employees and economy.
Deutsche Brse Group supports select initiatives benefiting the community, focusing on culture, education and science as well as social affairs.
Deutsche Brse Group actively promotes culture, supporting various institutions and projects involved with fine art and music. The focal point of the arts commitment is promoting contemporary photography. The company began with its own photographic art collection, the Art Collection Deutsche Brse, which has been growing steadily for ten years. In this area, Deutsche Brse promotes exhibition projects and the development of young photographic artists.
Deutsche Brse Group’s investment in education and science is also an investment in the future of the society. Based on the life-long learning concept, Deutsche Brse promotes innovative education and science projects from elementary school and scholarship programs for students to research projects focusing on financial and capital markets.
It also provides targeted support to social organizations and aid projects which reflects the firm belief that such a valuable contribution is an essential supplement to the state welfare system. Support is provided either in the form of traditional donations or, increasingly, through the active commitment of Deutsche Brse Group employees who offer their time and/or expertise at the various group locations.
As a financial services provider, Deutsche Brse feels that even as a non-manufacturing company it is responsible for operating sustainably and with consideration for the environment. Therefore, Deutsche Brse not only advocates its own form of corporate environmental protection but also an ecological trading venue. Cooperation with the European Energy xchange AG (EEX) enables trading with emission certificates. The new Deutsche Brse building planned for Eschborn will set standards: It will be one of Germany’s most energy-efficient and eco-friendly edifices.
The Corporate Responsibility Report also focuses on employees – Deutsche Brse distinguishes itself through its diversity: 3,395 employees from 65 different countries support clients around the world and are evidence of Deutsche Brse Group’s global orientation. Deutsche Brse is further concentrating on initiatives for optimizing work-life balance.
